Chateau Clauzet Saint-Estephe

Medium deep colour here, ruby-red with a slightly lighter rim. Fresh nose, still appearing rather youthful. I would say this is a wine with a moderate ripeness, more on the red fruity side with some herbaceous notes, some liquorice. Not really any hint of new oak, so more classic, traditional style, but good purity of fruit. Medium weight on the palate. Well balanced in a classic, I would say, more restrained style here. We have an elevated acidity, but ripe tannins. More red currant notes, with a hint of some fresh herbs. Good freshness. It keeps within the medium body frame. It still has a quite long aftertaste. So well made in this classic elegant style. A wine that would certainly benefit from some further ageing. I would like to give it another two to three years and then it will keep for much longer. In terms of serving it now, I think this is a very fine style of wine with a classic dish like confit de canard. Twenty minutes in the decanter and you should have a lot of fun with it.
